Olympia's Amazing Race II consists of 2 people per team. Participants need to complete 9 missions at different locations set by the organizer. The locations were set within a 5km radius around Olympia College, Ipoh. Participants need to use teamwork, patience, intelligence, energy and courage to complete the entire mission. It was fashioned after The Amazing Race, a reality television game show, which featured teams racing around the world in competition with other teams. Teams were progressively eliminated until three are left; at which point, the team that arrives first in the final leg is awarded a grand prize. Registration of teams took place at Olympia College, Ipoh from 8:30 am and by 9:30 am, they were given their first puzzle to decipher. The puzzle, when correctly decoded, will tell participants where to go for the first station. The first station was situated near the McDonalds/Super Kinta, where they had to look for 3 streets and complete the mission there. Then the participants were off to the next station – Ipoh Railway Station, followed by Padang Ipoh, Greentown, Syuen Hotel, Dataran Ipoh, SMK Yuk Choy , Little Genting and Ipoh Parade. Then it was time to head back to Olympia College, Ipoh. The first team arrived back to the starting point within 1 hour and 24 minutes. By 12 noon, all the teams had returned, sweaty and tired but happy. The first prize of RM800.00 was won by Khor Heng Tee and Raymond Goh, both students of Olympia College, Ipoh. The second prize of RM500 was won by Roy Cheong and Lee Ming Siang of SMK Poi Lam and SMK Yuk Choy respectively. The third prize of RM 300 was won by Wong Kok Yang and Winnie Chong of Poi Lam High School . The event was part sponsored by Coca Cola Refreshments. |
